My challenge was slightly different !!As my finances recovered I started looking at the outside of my property. Gutters that needed doing, a large piece of lawn that needed returfing, a conservatory that needed replacing and piles of wood that needed chopping up for my woodburner.

Gutters first as I couldn''t reach them without removing old conservatory so demolition came first. Then gutters.

The conservatory came as a kit but NO instructions. It had to be laid out as a kit on the lawn and sorted to give me an order to work in.

I made it a rule that nobody was to help unless absolutely necessary. That included shifting a huge beam up to roof level which I could hardly lift. Where there is a will there is a way !!!
The only other help was to lift a heavy double door unit and to lift the huge sheets of roof glass.

In total it took 8 working days to finish and that included internal flooring and lighting. It was the hottest part of the summer and I was sweating one pint of squash an hour !!

I saved approx £5000 doing it myself and with the turfing and tidying easily put £25k on the value of my property !!!

Next big challenge. Get my xmas cards written !!

Coo, does Polar do patios too? I can see full time employment as the go to wiki handyman.

My current challenge but also achievement is learning to swim. The achievement is that I can do half a length, the challenge is to get it to a full length, and build up to a mile.

Ah,my take differs to you all
(just goes to shoe how weird I am)

When all this divorce malarky kicked off,I did not know what day it was,or planet I lived on.
So when a little stronger I set myself a challenge, that was to find myself again, the person I was before I met him(albeit an older version)

This was the challenge that would best serve me and my future. In doing so I have let go of the past, sometimes resentment and anger flares up,but this is very rare,it is what it is!

The one thing that does upset me,and nothing I can do,is the relationship that my eldest has with her Dad...Non existant, but that''s her choice, and I have to respect that....

Now I am at the place I think I need to be,comfortable with me...
The stuff I want to do now AHH,
All part of a massive learning curve,
As we learn to walk,to write,to drive..
We find new things to learn..

Most of us on wiki have faced our biggest challenge,we took on the D word..
AND SURVIVED..
