Can someone help. my stbx sol, has read mail which was opened by my stbx. these letters were marked private and confidential to me. They were sent to her new place as a result of the royal mail cock up on their e-direction service. her sol. read them printed them and scanned them back to me. I am not a happy person and do not want her sol to continue to be part of our financial res. Can I ask him to stop acting in this case??

No, you can''t. The solicitor may well know the content of the letters as does your spouse. If you spouse had to find another solicitor she would take the knowledge with her and you would be no better off.

Opening somebody else''s post without their authority is a criminal offence and you should say as much when you request that they return all original documents to you and destroy any copies (physical or digital).

For reference the relevant offence is stated at Section 84(3) of The Postal Services Act 2000. S84(5) describes the tariff for committing the offence.
