If the accountant is your accountant you ask for the accounts in the usual way. As a professional an accountant has a duty of confidentiality to his clients and risks their career by revealing details to unentitled parties.

There is also the small matter of the Data Protection Act which prevents disclosure of confidential data. It is a criminal offence which carries a hefty fine and possibly a custodial sentence. A conviction of this kind would spell the end of the accountant;''s career.
