Help please

After receiving answers from STBX re finances, sol has suggested a Forensic/Financial Invstigator to do a paper trail.
Has anybody had any experience of this ? & if so some idea of charges (realise it is not going to be that cheap)

Many thanks

never heard about it before personally except in police cases.your sol wouldn't suggest it unless seriously thinks something very wrong.hope it doesn't cost too much but if it finds hidden or lost funds or a little careful editing it should be worthwhile I would have thought.didn't your sol say why the need ? he should give a reason surely as you'll be paying for the fees of this expert.if it was me I'd ask first Why?

Yes they do exist. Average private investigator has access to info which could lead to paper trail. Wouldn't expect it to be cheap though. Lot of info is avalable on the net. Just have to pay for it by subscribing. But of course if solicitor suggests they are not paying for it. Its great spending other peoples money !!!

You may well be barking up the wrong tree here. As an investigator I can tell you that the information will not be cheap and any paper trail of assets needs to be legal.

I have lost count of how many calls in similar cases where people want to know the contents of peoples bank accounts.

This information is not available legally. Even if you were able to find out this information, you would not be able to use it without compromising you, your lawyer and the investigator. Offences under the DPA are taken very seriously.

What exactly is the paper trail that you are refering to?

It may be better to contact me by PM for advice.

Thats a good answer and I hope you can help here. But sometimes 'legal' ways to do things can be obtained illegally !!! As they say everyone has their price. For interest I typed in 'hacking hotmail passwords' into google. Surprised at the number of firms that will do that !!! No I didn't use them.!!!! Initially I felt I needed info but now its better I dont know. Only prolongs the agony.
