Hi
I have completed and submitted form E. Just starting on the rest of yhe paperwork and am pretty confident that I can do tgat as I have had 2 years to think about issues etc and have looked at every possible potential outcome!
However nerves are getting the better of me - apart from the cost of legal rep why am I attempting this on my own???
Any opinions? I hadpaid a solicitor for a year so much of what I have fone so far for court was just a case of updating but should I pay forsomeone to be with me on the day for a 20 minute appointment? Stbxh is self repping too (at the moment).
thank you!

It is obviously better to have a solicitor - that goes without saying.

But you need to remember, a first appointment is not a trial. The judge will review the case to date and (s)he may feel further information is needed.

For a simple case where you are self rapping, you might well be able to get by without representation. But I must make the qualification that I don''t know anything about your case so I can offer no assurances that everything will be fine.

Thank you LMM.
The case is that we had agreed financial settlement to the point that I had returned the Consent Order to his solicitor . He said he didn''t receive it! I sent it again with the Statement of Means, still not acknowledged.
10 days before we were due to complete on me buying ex out of the house he pulls out stating that the divorce (absolute) would be postponed for 4 years. When our youngest reaches 18 we will sell the house and split 50/50.
I was floored as I don''t want to stay married! I applied to court for settlement, in the meantime my mortgage offer has expired, the house price has supposedly gone up by £40k (since May?) so I am looking for a Clean Break with enough equity to house the children and he is seeking a Mesher Order,
Any views?
