Those that did buy out there X from the marital home

1)Did you pay your X a large sum or did you get a larger mortgage from the lender to buy him out?
2)What would be the best option in order to keep myself in a better position financially?
Any other help would be most appreciated

1) N/A for me
2) Further details would be required to give a reasonable answer, however capital raising, buy to let, remortgage, equity release are a few poss options.
