I will be posting details soon of a wikimeet in Manchester the weekend of 17th January.

I''m posting advance notice to give people a chance to take advantage of cheaper tickets if you plan to travel by train - I know some have already booked.

At present I''m focusing on Saturday, but if some wikis plan to make it a weekend and arrive on Friday and leave Sunday, please let me know.

If you''ve never been to a wikimeet before please be assured that you will be made very welcome. So take that step and come along.

Best wishes,

Mitchum

Evening Clawed

I went to one at London in August. It''s an opportunity to meet up with others who is, or have been through the process.

Everyone was kind and they just listened. What was nice was the laughter, before then I had not laughed for a while.

If you are free you should go, it is usually held in a pub too!

Enjoy I would be there too but to far to travel for me.

Hello Clawed,

Wiki meets are for many the first step to socialising again. It’s a good opportunity to spend time with people who understand how you’re feeling without you having to explain why.

We are open to suggestions of course, but we usually meet somewhere early afternoon for drinks and where anyone who has travelled a distance can have lunch. Depending on the weather, people like to shop or do some sightseeing, meeting later in a pub for drinks. Dinner tends to be early, around 6.30, because some people may have to get home to children and if the weather is bad it’s best to have an earlier meal.

People staying in the city often choose to go on somewhere for the evening.

I hope that gives you an idea of a typical wikimeet. The first meet does require a huge step outside your comfort zone, but everyone is always very friendly, so do join us. The more the merrier!

Ooh I definitely want to come. I''m a Northerner so Manchester is good for me!
Never been to a wikimeet before and I''m struggling again recently so I think I need to meet others in my situation.
It''s a yes from me!
