Numbers are growing on the events page, but so far there is only one man. Now I know Stuka is unfazed being alone with so many ladies, but it would be nice if some more men would join us for at least part of the day. If shopping is not your thing, the football museum is very close by and the Museum of Science and Industry not far away. :)

I have begun to co-ordinate arrival times at rail stations and to arrange to meet members who are strangers to Manchester to walk with them to the meeting place.

2015 is approaching fast, so why not make this a date in your new calendar to simply get out and meet people? I know it''s a huge step outside your comfort zone to go and meet total strangers, but please be reassured that you will be made welcome and that wikis are very friendly and understanding.

Just wanted to pop in to say to those of you who haven''t been to a wikimeet.... When I joined this community in April 2008, I was scared to death about meeting people from a virtual community. I''m of a generation who generally struggles with the concept ;)

I took the bull by the horns and arranged (with another member) what became the first Manchester meet. Since then, it''s been a long and strong tradition with us northerners - including you Scots out there! Well attended, well enjoyed.

As Mitchum says, it''s a great first step to come out of your comfort zone and socialise but with a safety net. Everyone understands, everyone. Sometimes, we''re so busy laughing that we forget what brought us together in the first place - it did wonders for my social life!

Nearly 7 years on, I''m remarried and living in the US - to a fellow Wiki! Since I''ve just been ''home'' to the UK for Christmas, Mitchum, I''m going to miss yet another Manchester meet - I do hope to get to at least one of them this year. Happy New Year guys, see how many meets you can make it to in 2015 - I met some of my now closest friends in Wikivorce :)

Blessings,

Shezi

I''ll be booking the table for the restaurant in the evening, so please sign up or PM me if you would like to join us.

I am already in touch with wikis who have not been to a meet before and arranging to meet at the rail station/car park and accompany them to the first venue, so you don''t have to walk in alone.

A wiki will be at the Coffee Pot Black early and waiting for arrivals and I will PM contact details so we can be in touch on the day.

Looking forward to meeting you!
