So I am filing for divorce and am the Petitioner party. I have had one initial meeting and a follow up with my solicitor who has completed and sent the D8 form to my wife to sign.

He had suggested family and financial mediation to sort these issues out.

In the meantime should he be doing anything else for me or is it just waiting for the moment ? Should he be doing more ?

In relation to the divorce petition, this is submitted to the court, the court sends it to the respondent and the respondent is meant to file an acknowledgement of service within 8 days or so. You are very much at the mercy of the court as to timescale.

You cannot deal with finances formerly without issuing divorce proceedings so you are on the right track.

If you want things done more quickly though, as your solicitor if anything can be done to speed up the process.
