Please help...just been told by RP that they are taking kids abroad. I haven''t given permission for this and have no real detail of dates and destination.

I saw on another post that the RP should have a letter from the NRP to take with them to the airport.

What can I do to stop this happening? Do I call the police?

Is there a court order detailing that the child live with the other parent? ie a Residence Order or a Child Arrangements Order?

Is your ex a flight risk - ie are they from another country, have they threatened to abscond with the children previously?

Or is this a family holiday? And when is the holiday going to be?

NB - it''s not a legal requirement to take a letter of consent with you when you take the children abroad, it''s just a good idea to ahve the consent in writing.

No, there are no formal agreements. Just informal in the sense, kids with me certain days etc.

I don''t think the RP is a flight risk but can''t be sure. Missing school and potentially going to a country which is in the middle of unrest is not something i''m comfortable with.

What can I do?

when are they going?

If you have genuine concerns for the children''s well-being and safety, then you need to apply for an ex-parte Prohibited Steps Order to stop her taking the children out of the country.

You say "potentially going to a country which is in the middle of unrest" - do you have a confirmed destination, or are you just making an educated guess?

Egypt was mentioned by the kids, but no specific details of destination or where they are staying. I think they leave in the next few days. Details are sketchy to say the least...

I think you need to establish some facts - when is the exact departure date, where are they going.

The tourist areas in Egypt - along the Nile and coastal resorts - are not deemed to be high or moderate risk by the Foreign Office and there is no FCO advice to not travel to these areas.

School finishes in most counties in England on Thursday this week, so if the children are to travel in the next few days, they will only be missing at most 2 days of school.
