Time to change solicitor?

My husband and I have been separated for over 3 years. The divorce process commenced in February 08, when he petitioned me on grounds of 2 years separation. I found a solicitor immediately and the process started. However £2,500 in fees later, I am still no further. I have completed a E1 and received a very incomplete E1 from my husband's solicitor.

My solicitor offers no advice and shows no interest in moving things on. I have to check and amend mistakes in letters, forms and notes from our meetings- all at a cost to me! When I ring (after weeks of non activity) she tells me that she has a note in her diary to do something the next day.

I have asked my solicitor if I should go to court to get a resolution and ( in my dreams) a divorce. She says she will speak to my husband's solicitor. I really don't know whether I should stay or go! I assume moving solicitor will add enormously to my legal costs, but I'm starting to feel desperate!

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Hi Tate, i dont have the answers & i'm divorcing but with legal aid. If i were in your position i think i would ring my solicitor & threaten to change to another? It might make her see that you want this dealt with swiftly & more competently.
Keep watching your thread, you will get replied real soon,
Cindy

Tate,
if both of you want to divorce and it is straight forward I do not see why it is costing you so much.
Was your solicitor recommended or did you pick one out of the hat.Sometimes cheapest is not always the best.
I am not sure moving half way is going to benefit you but you should have an explanation for the delay and what to expect.
Good luck
