After going through the good solicitors list it became apparent that they charge accordingly!
Couple of them told me if ex decides to be difficult and everything is dragged through the courts as it already has then there really is no limits on where the costs can go, anything from 20k up to and beyond 50k.
Bit of a shocker.
As I won''t be spending mummy''s money like ex this is not even worth thinking about.
Interestingly all the top dogs told me ex''s barrister is also their first choice, so it would seem budgeting with the cheapest option is unlikely to succeed either and ultimately money down the drain.
Wondering if it would make more sense to represent myself, after all I can lose as good as someone with a law degree.

i thought about self rep, but the amount of hassle stbx''s lawyers gave me by emailing me every 5 mins (exaggeration)led me to engage with a solicitor myself just to stop the noise!

It felt like relief to be honest, but im sure that relief will come at a cost no doubt!

I''m not having much luck finding another solicitor, mostly due to costs.
It''s pretty much a certainty that ex will hustle, seeing as it''s not his money he''s spending he can do this. Not much point in me going with someone else on the basis that it will be straightforward.
Is there any other way through this?
My own solicitor just doesn''t answer calls, never gets back to me, doesn''t respond to emails either, could be forgiven for thinking that they aren''t really interested in this case, not sure they ever were if how it turned out so far is anything to go by.
They are one of only a couple that do legal aid in my area which makes them pretty busy, too busy in my experience.
As I can''t spend £200ph I need to know what other options I have, my situation is full time carer for a severely disabled teen and hopeless with form filling, but desperately want this to be over and need to move on asp to financial matters.
Still not go Decree Nisi after one and a half years!
