Hi,
I had £2500 savings which I have used on solicitor bills up to now. I am trying to negotiate a financial settlement with STBX, but now we are down to the nitty gritty, he is procrastinating a lot and being very unpleaseant, which has drained my money and I now have nothing left to pay a solicitor. He earns 105k a year and I am at home with the kids and have a part time job bringing me 12k. Now I have no money, he is now saying that he is going to take me to court and I will have to represent myself. I don''t know where I stand, and how I can get legal advice. Will a solicitor allow me to pay them when the house is sold in 4 years time, or am I forced to take on debts that I cant afford to pay. Thanks

I would apply for MPS and get him to pay your solicitor fees.

It means he has to pay you some money until finances are sorted. Surprised your solicitor hasn''t already suggested this considering the difference in your situation.

The law has changed and you can no longer apply for Maintenance Pending Suit to cover legal costs because there is a new type of order for the purpose.
