Hi my xtb has completed the Acknowledgment fo service. I have received a letter from my solicitor asking me to sign an 'Affidavit and Exhibit'. She says I have to sign it but that should be witnessed by another solicitor or at the local county court. Does anyone know how much this is likely to cost me?

Hi LilyRose.

I was told by my solicitor that it would be £7.00 to sign and swear on the bible in front of another solicitor, which can't be from the same solicitors group you are using.

If you swear and sign in front of the County Court Divorce section, it will be free, and you can leave the affidavit paperwork and exhibit with the Court there and then. I took this option as I had the time to spare and it helped get the paperwork processed a bit quicker. Plus saving a small fee of £7.00, every penny helps these days.

Hope this is of help.

Cheers:cheer:

My local court is 15 miles away and a firm of solicitors is just round the corner from where I work. So by the time I've paid for parking and petrol I might just as well pay the £7.

Thanks for the info.

My solicitor sent me to another firm of solicitors in the town and they charged me £7.00. Just contact a solicitor in your area and they will witness it for you, its quite straightforward.
