Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice.

I am self representing in financial settlement with my ex-wife. Decree Absolute granted in Dec 2019 and she remarried weeks later. She has been continually unresponsive since then and due to Covid the matter has stretched out significantly.

At third attempt of First Hearing in mid Feb 2021, directions were made that the next hearing should be treated as final hearing in the event that my ex fails to file the appropriate documents within 4 weeks. She has failed to do so The directions stated the hearing to be relisted first available date after mid April 2021, by way of MS Teams / video call.

I am still awaiting a listing date. I have called daily/weekly, emailed the courts repeatedly and no answers/estimate of a listing date. Normally my hearings have been listed within 8 weeks of the previous, and I do understand that Covid has had an impact, but this seems now unnecessarily long. The judge even noted in the last directions that this needed speedy closure as the original filing was in 2015.

Any advice welcome. Listing court is Croydon.

You're kidding! That's crazy.

How long did it take after the FDA for you to get the relisting date?

That's what I can't work it is taking so long - if the diaries are busy, ok, but they could just add you to the end of the list and let you know? At least it stops the waiting game.

I first applied in Nov 2019, my FDA was Aug 2020, this was adjourned, then delayed again due to exes non compliance. My adjourned FDA was held in April 21, ex remained non compliant so the judge moved straight to final hearing on the first available date after May 21, with permission for me to file updated info for myself and an indication that he will order exactly what I've asked for if my ex doesn't comply - which he still isn't doing - they don't take kindly to people who don't comply as I've discovered. The date for final hearing arrived this week and is in November 21.

I spoke to the court manager as my ex has debts and the people he owes money to are trying to secure a charging order which I am also having to fight off and it does seem that courts are simply so busy with Covid backlogs and she said they've seen an increase in divorces during Covid as well, Im not sure how accurate that is.
