Had my first cvp meeting now found out my soon to be ex has paid roughly £8,000 in solicitors fees even though she's in over £20,000 in debt and on a low income .where and when (before next court case ?) can I ask how is she able to afford this due to she's in so much debt ?

What are the assets? My concern is that she may have taken out a litigation loan that has to be paid off from sale of property.

It is a reasonable enough question. Does it not show in her bank statements or on form E/updating disclosure??

In financial proceedings each party usually pays their own costs although an adjustment may be made to cover them if appropriate.

If the pot is only £145k the focus should be on settlement rather than spending £1000s on lawyers. What is the sticking point that has led to you ending up in the court process??

It does not show on her bank statements.the mortgage is in my name only.when we split we agreed 50/50 but now she's seen solicitor and she's got a barrister aswell.her last email said she is asking for the property to be transferred into her name only .so she is asking for 100%.which is totally wrong I bought house and paid off a lot of the mortgage.there's no pensions only the house to fight for and we both got debts.how do I find out if she's charging the house for this money and can I ask the judge who's funding her ?
