I have mu first appointment on Monday 12th June.
I was thinking of wearing trousers and a smart jacket. Would that be appropriate or are women expected to wear skirts?
Also I am self repping, will i be expected to present my case?

Wear what you are comfortable in - smart trousers are perfectly acceptable.

Yes, you will be expected to speak for yourself, and out forward your case and reasoning (although probably not at the first hearing which is usually to receive directions from the Judge as to what information and actions each party needs to take for the FDR).

You will be fine :)

Thank you
I have only been asked two questions by my ex so not a lot to answer to be honest.
I am quite confident I have given all the correct information as otherwise I feel I would have more questions to answer.
I may think about a barrister for next appointment depending on the outcome on Monday.
Fingers crossed!

Good luck, and turn up in what you feel comfortable with. I wore black jeans to my final hearing, though with a smartish top. For first appointment and FDR it was a hippy style summer dress.

There is very little 'presenting' to do on both first appointment and FDR. The judge will lead you both through the hearing and you will mainly just be answering his questions. However you may have to have an argument to back up any of your questions -i.e. the reason you need to ask the question.

If money is tight I'd save the barrister for a final hearing if you get that far - at FDR it is negotiation and you don't have to make any decisions on the day if you don't want to.
