I thought I had a good case for coercive control because my wife screams for hours if I talk to my family, she has been hostile to some of my friends, and constantly puts me down, telling me I am a failure and similar, and keeps telling me how wicked I am (apparently I have "embraced Satan").

She has openly admitted that she wants to stop me talking to my father and sister, and on one occasion unplugged the internet connection to stop a zoom call to them.

She has recently started doing the same to our older daughter (about to turn 18). Accusing her of taking my side, being wicked, "abusing mummy", taking bribes from my family to be nasty to her etc.

She constantly takes offence at minor things in conversations. There was a huge row yesterday from dinner onwards (the day we choose to celebrate my older daughter's 18th, because they day itself is a school day). because when our daughter said, "please stop interrupting me" she said (paraphrasing) you did "not say anything when daddy interrupted out so you are trying to stop me talking. She then stormed out but kept coming back down and telling us all off. This is a recurring pattern.

She has several times forcibly restrained me to stop me walking out, or making phone calls (e.g. to police or social services). On one occasion she locked me and the kids out of the house and we had to go to a friend's place for an hour or so until she calmed down.

She keeps trying to check what I am doing on my computer, and accuses me of switching windows to hide things from her.

She alternates between hostility and being nice and telling me she loves me and going out of her way to do things for me and the kids.

Her relationship with the kids has deteriorated. The younger one 12 feels guilty about "hating mummy" and the older one says she does not care when her mother says any more so she cannot hurt her. She says her attitude changed when my wife was away for a day (just before lockdown) and she realised how much easier it was to spend time with me and her younger sister with mum out of the way. I feel the same about that day.

The police do not seem to be interested. They refused to take a copy of my notes and recordings when I called them week before last, although they did talk to both of us. Does what I am describing fall short of criminal abuse?

On the plus side, having called them, I feel liberated. Where do I go next: lawyer, social services chase police up....?

I want to get her out of my life and that of my kids as soon as possible.

I am also hoping that a criminal prosecution, or even the thteat of one, would make her restrain herself.

I am finding more and more that concerns me about the children. I knew she shouted at my older daughter on the day of one of her GCSEs, but today I found out that the child had been crying while sitting the exam as a result. My tough little girl still got a 9! My wife had been upset herself because her father had died a week before, but its no excuse to take it out on a child in my opinion.

I also found out recently that she had thrown slippers at our younger daughter several times when she was very young. The child says "but she only hit me once".

I need to stop this.

What happened to me was my x lied the courts granted a DV order without evidence against like most.
It's happening today because they want out the pressure and they think by doing so get more really all that they are doing is harming others etc (Wellbeing) but ok some have been going through the mill.

My situation was that for many a year not knowing kept me at arms and starting to Gaslighting me without me fully understanding what she was doing if known would have walked along time ago but for me restarting up self-confidence is shot and still paying the price.

But feel very sorry for the children!

If they can so can you get an order against her!
