My son just got back from holiday with ex and girlfriend. He has had a great time, camping in the Lake District. He chatted for ages telling me of the fun things they did together, unusual to get my 13 yr old to chat so I was really pleased that he had enjoyed himself.

I have felt really down ever since, ex has moved on and is doing the things we always did as a family only I have been replaced. I know I must accept that this is the way it has to be but the empty feeling I have inside is sometimes so hard to deal with.

Hi Poppie

I don't have children but can imagine how hard it must be to have to deal with all the mixed emotions involved in this one (glad he had a great time, but it should have been with you and hubbie).

It's never going to be easy, but you haven't been replaced, how could you be, she's just a subsitute for you and I'm sure she's not a patch on you, his loss but unfortunately at the moment you are the one paying the price.

Things will get easier and you will be happy again, in the meantime there are a lot of lovely people on Wiki more than happy to give advice, share stories or just listen.

Take care of yourself and your son

That's a big blow to deal with poppie, I hope you're not feeling too down. Try to bear in minf that you will move on too when you're ready, to better and brighter times. We never know what's round the corner for us, and if life has taught me one thing, it's that whenever I've been down and whenever it feels as if life as you know it is over, it has always, ALWAYS, been followed by more good times - a time when I've sorted myself out and life has been good again

It may not seem like it now, but that's what you have in your future

Hi Poppie,
You will never be replaced. You have a son, you are his Mother, NOTHING can replace that, the new girlfriend will never come close to that relationship. I think it is a testimony to you that he feels comfortable talking to you about it, he obviously respects you highly.
I know when my sons went to their Father's house with the GF in tow, I actually felt sorry for her. (you know in a :woohoo:way). They were not much younger than her, she must have felt like one of the children!!!
I must admit though it was at Christmas, when we used to go shopping for present for the kids, that was a hard time, not sat in my seat in the car, sharing thoughts on presents.
It is hard.
In my experience I would just let him talk, as you do already, he does not go there to see her, but to see his Dad. He will always be your Son.
Try not to worry Poppie.
take care

Thank you Mad, Sun and Zara for your replies, as always they really help and I appreciate your support.

The tears have stopped, for now anyway. I want to believe life will get better slowly and as Sun said we don't know what's round the corner.

Love

Hello Poppie I am in same situation.Kids have been with x2b and floozie all today and stayed the night there too. Its like u don't exist.

But I look at the positives - kids have been separated cos each chose to live with one of us (9 months). Eldest refuses to speak with me at all.

But I have my friends on wiki for company.

They have a house full.

Hope kids dont start bickering cos he always butts in and creates ww3 - floozie wud love that!!!

At the end of the day, they need to see both parents.

We will always be their mum and she will always be his floozie (unless she finds what he's really like)!!!!!!

Poppie,

Children are just that - children. When they have a good experience they shine with enthusiasm and want to tell everyone about it.

What you don't see is the shining enthusiasm when he is telling his dad about the great things he does with mum :).

And, more's the pity, the look on his dad's face as he is telling him .

Chin up Poppie, there are two sides to every coin.....

Mike
