My wife and I attended a counselling session today but it was of little use in respect of our relationship. Having had several discussions beforehand we had already decided that we could not continue living a lie.

It did help us to decide how to tell our children, which we have now done. They are 17 & 14 and I have to say this is the most difficult thing I have ever done. It felt like I was deliberately trying to hurt them.

Now comes the part where we sort out who is going/staying, maintenance etc etc. I think its going to get worse before it gets better.

Sadly you could be right, but you've decided together and your talking so thats the best you can do. If you continue to talk there's a chance you and your children can come out of this without the bitterness and resentment many of us carry.
Good luck to you
