Can anyone tell me, why do couples have to separated (i mean lives in different accommodation) at least two years before can file for divorce? Why can't couple, during filing for their divorce to each other still allow to live under same roof until divorce and settlement finalised?

A friend mine. has been a housewife and mother looking-after the family and taking-care of the home. Obviously, she can't affort to move out and get accommodation. She has been suffer a lot and very unhappy throughout her marriage. Went to family solicitors for three times during past 18 years, but didn't have the couraged to continue with the legal fees were too expensive. And the threat from her husband.

The piont of divorce is to proove that you cant and no longer should live with your spouse, that the marriage is over and cannot be saved (irrevocably damaged)

If you continue to live with your partner share meals chores do the washing you are not showing this.

perhaps your friend can consider UB as another option
