The purpose of mediation is to try to reach a settlement that you can both live with and that considers the needs of any children.

The sooner you can agree, the better. Dont hold things back for the next session and potentially undo any potential agreement. It is not so much about what you want but what you each need and how those needs can be met. Using terminology such as "demands" isn't helpful.

You need to be fair and honest with each other and try to keep any emotion out of the discussion. It isn't easy but is far better than a prolonged court battle.
