Hi
Just about to attend 1st appointment at a cost of £190! Please share your experiences so that I have an idea of what to expect.

I''m horrified at the cost!

Thanks in anticipation......

Its very cheap in comparison to going to Court represented. Hopefully you''ll both manage to negotiate something using mediation.

Good luck

Thanks, I agree the cost in comparison to Court is potentially great but I am in conflict with a very stubborn and determined stbx and am struggling to see what can be gained.

Anyone else cae to share their experiences?

My solicitor charged £225 per hour and my bill for a couple of chats plus translating a Consent Order that i had drafted into crap legalease was £1000.
They charged £29.50 for POSTING a letter . That discounted writing the letter or the cost of stamps.

My advice. Don''t rush anything. Spend days trawling though wiki to find out what others did. I became close to getting a ''''law degree'''' with my knowledge !!! Then I let the other side do all the running at their cost whilst I used wiki to ''fight'''' my corner and I could easily tie them up in knots. My bill was very low...gawd knows what my ex''s was but if she got away with less than 10k I would be very surprised.

Had my first one yesterday. Nothing more than going through form E and outlining what you want to discuss for the next one. That was it. £150 lighter.

I can''t imagine that this is correct. The specified hourly rate includes overheads which would include postage, stationery, administrative support etc.

Do you have any further information on how this costs was charged to you?

Yep.. It was listed on my statement as such !!! Items were listed for example
To reading your letter 4 minutes
To considering reply 6 minutes
To replying to your letter 12 minutes
To posting letter.

Solicitor went bankrupt after his wife left him !!!

Just before he went bust I asked for some personal letters back. Yep I received this soggy mass with an appology. So much for taking care of my important documents !!
