Telephone Mediation?

I''ve had a letter from a mediation company inviting me to make an appointment.

Only problem is they are over 400 miles away (but close to STBX, he chose to move away).

I can''t afford to travel to a session, as my only income is carers allowance.

Can I ask for it to be done by telephone? Does anyone have any experience of telephone mediation? I would prefer not to use skype or similar as I hate being on camera.

This actually came out of the blue as I was still waiting for a reply from STBX solicitor to a letter I wrote back in February :(

You can certainly ask. Some mediators are prepared to do it over the phone.

They offer to deal with couples in seperate rooms so it might be possible or you could request it is local to your area?

Thank you.

Well, I spoke to the mediators this morning, and they are insisting that at least the first meeting is face to face - something about legal aid conditions.

I thought that it would have been my STBX who would be claiming legal aid, or do both parties have to?

They suggested they could do skype if it were private (no chance, he''s already had all my money).

They then suggested they refer us to a service local to me. I''d love to be a fly on the wall when my STBX hears that!
