My partner is currently going for mediation with his STBE and they are getting to the financial disclosures time, his Ex wants £170,00 from £220,000 of equity in the house and £400 a month spousal maintenance, his earnings are greater than hers as she chooses only to work a few hours per week and he chooses to work hard at being a driving instructor.
He is living with me but is still paying for the matrimonial home, he does not contribute to our living expenses by way of paying bills, or giving me housekeeping money at the moment but would he
be better off if he did contribute towards our home showing that he had more outgoings ?

May already be too late as he has proven he can sustain the existing lifestyle and the bank statements will back up that. If he changes it now he can attempt to show he has less money but if it went onwards to court the questions might be asked why he deliberately changed
