Just going through details for a financial order at the moment and wanted to know if anybody has any experience of applying for student finance. My ex-husband does not want to contribute to my children's care after they are 18, so it will just be my salary getting them through college. When I apply for finance, will the student loan company ask why he isn't contributing or try to get him to contribute in some way?

I am in a similar situation, my son started in Uni this year. He applied for student finance and he nominated me as his parent. I had to provide a copy of the Decree Absolute and give my earnings. As far as I am aware there was no attempt to get my Ex to support our son despite her earning a very good salary as a Radiographer in NHS so our son received the full student loan.
