Do country court cases carry much weight as my understanding was the unless an order had been appealed and then a higher court made a ruling another court would not be bound by the order in the lower court?

"How long is this likely to take to come to court?" - I believe it's currently around six months to get a hearing.

"He doesn't want to go to mediation" - Nobody is forced to go and unless both sides are committed at least initially to finding a solution it's fairly pointless.

Did you partner get a share of the pension as if her ex is about to retire then the pensions should have been split. There is a case below that was heard in a senior court and my limited understanding is that county courts will be bound by its ruling. Essentially there was a joint lives order for maintenance but the ex-husband was coming up to retirement, the ex-wife had already had half his pension so the maintenance was reduced to zero and the ex-wife was told to get a job and stop living off her ex-husband.

Thanks. The case will be heard in the Principal Registry in London. So presume about 4 to 6 months? Noted on mediation..my partner will go to London if only to make a point. The father has never been to school for a play, match etc in 6 years.

Thanks for the article. Mine has worked since the split, though doesn't earn much. She got nothing from a pension from him and has no provision for retirement beyond a state pension. So hopefully the outcome will be different.
