Hello everyone.

I'm divorcing someone who was controlling towards me. I never wanted to marry them and am left dealing with the fall out of a court case they've brought against me, for which I have legal aid. I am currently claiming benefits as a single parent and using this year to sort all this out before I go back into full-time work when my child is older.

I am not spending one single penny on ridding this toxic individual from my life. I scrabble around on the net for information. I have discovered this is a four stage process which is even crazier than I imagined. I never wanted to get married as I find the whole concept a bit silly, but my oh my the divorce process is even sillier.

I have initiated the divorce process along with an application for fee waiver.

From what I can gather between work, this court case, being a mother, and keeping sane, the next stage is a five month wait and then an application for a Consent Order which I again need to either get a fee waiver or another legal aid solicitor to do.

It's a journey and I can't wait to celebrate at the end. I have zero assets, as does he. We have no children together. I kicked him out of my social home and he went back to his mum's.
