Hi all,
Can anyone help me pls? I have been going thru the stages of divorce for over a year now, stuck on the financial statement. I went to a family mediation meeting without my ex-partner and things have got no-where. I changed solicitor as the previous gave me contradicting info constantly and wanted to charge £3000 to finalise the divorce as I was initially on legal help. Now my new solicitor has received the messy divorce file and advised I need to attend family mediation. I have not received my ex form E's as of yet, nothing has been agreed from child maintenance, custody, matrimonial house, etc. What is the purpose of attending Family Mediation, is this necessary and what will this resolve? :S

Kind Regards

Hello,

Mediation is a means by which both parties can attend a meeting and try and agree on practical/financial issues surrounding the divorce/seperation. It is not exactly productive unless you both agree to participate though.

Where Mediation is successful this can save both sides stress and save alot of hassle and money.
Regards
