Hello ,
after exactly 3 years of financial battle in Court , I finally settled this morning and I am now able to apply for my Decree Absolute.
However since the Decree Nisi was granted way over 6 months ago , I understand I need to provide a letter/ statement of truth as to why it took so long for me to apply for it to be made absolute.
I would appreciate if I could get some tips or even a template to help me draft this letter/statement .
Many thanks
Celine

If the Nisi was only 6 months ago, then you won;t need to submit a statement - it's only if the Nisi was more than 12 months ago that a statement is required.

All you need to do is complete form D36 and submit t to the court hearing your divorce. Absolute applications are usually dealt with fairly quickly - and if you used the online process via Gov.UK, it can sometimes take just a few days.

Thank you for your reply .
My decrez NISI however is 2.5 years old as it took that long to settle the finances . So i cannot just send the application form , i need to also send a statement as I understand which is why i am a little lost

Ok....that's not what you said in your first post, or at least it wasn't clear.

Just submit a short statement setting out why it's been more than 12 months since the Nisi - the usual reason is resolving the finances, so it shouldn't be a problem.

You need to add that you have not lived together as man and wife since the Nisi and there are no (further) children born of the marriage since then.
