Hi all,

long story short... me and my ex split and she created allegations etc to essentially push me to go through the court systems to see my daughter. I've been told I am able to see her initially 2 hours per week with a cost of £89.25 per hour (£178.50 per week). Because of this all, my job couldn't accommodate to me having two days off (if many of you are aware, they sometimes can't set the same times per week) so I have now lost my job. I'm being chased to pay the minimum payments since through child maintenance, however I have seen online that because I'm paying to see my daughter, I may be able to stop these payments through child maintenance. I've been paying a full amount consistently aswell as the costs of the contact sessions all on time, until I lost my role. As you can imagine, with no actual income (other than universal credit and some savings to pay for then contact sessions weekly), it's become incredibly difficult to even pay the minimum amount and I'm getting messages off my ex beung quite smug about it all (irrelevant I know).
Will I be able to stop CMS payments and even remove arrears due to the amount I have been previously paying? Nowhere online really gives me a clear answer so I hope to gain one here if anyone has been through the same situation?
I appreciate any help/advise offered! Many thanks

Inform CMS of change of income and apply for a variation to take into account cost of contact sessions.

They won’t backdate it so apply ASAP.
