my ex has sent letters from his solicitor wanting me to attend mediation? Is this mandatory? We''re not married and I have never stopped him seeing his daughter. He has set days that we have mutually agreed but he sometimes doesn''t even turn up and now he wants me to go to mediation? Do I have to do this? What rights does he actually have? He says he feels uncomfortable visiting his daughter in my house so I have agreed for us to meet in a public place so he can spend time with her.

Mediation is certainly better than court action if any kind of action at all is required. Some more information would be really helpful like age of child, how much contact takes place, how often, etc and then people may be able to advise more.

Has he asked for more time, are you always present for his contact?
