I know you referred you question to William - but the answer is Yes - if paying through CSA the payments would have ceased - I have a child in the same position - his payments ceased on 1st September - as I was getting money through CSA - at the same time my child tax credits and child benefit stopped - they all follow the same rules. The apprenticeship minimum wage i think is £2.68 an hour although some companies choose to pay more.

Hi Paul 1131

Thank you for your post. As other members have mentioned, the payment of child maintenance runs in line with Child Benefit being paid. If you need further clarification on whether you still need to continue paying for your son if using the statutory rules for your family-based arrangement, you may wish to contact the Child Support Agency (CSA) directly. You can find their contact details as well as information on the statutory child maintenance rules on Gov.uk at www.gov.uk/child-maintenance.

For more information on all the ways to put child maintenance in place, please visit our website at www.cmoptions.org. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 988 0988 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am and 4pm on Saturday.

We have a sorting out web-app that you may find useful, it offers help and support to separated families. You can find this at www.wikivorce.com/divorce/Sorting-Out-Separation.html.

Regards

William
