Poppie, find a book that is easy to read and does not require much concentration. Easy read, that makes you fel comfortable. Don't let what happened stop you taking pleasure in books! They take enough as it is

Hi All

I do love reading and have taken many notes from this thread as am a way for a week soon. Thank you :-)

Zara...Clan of the Cave Bear series is brilliant I agree. Jondular, now there is a proper hero!

I think there is usually a right kind of book for a any mood. Can be very cathartic. Also, like some have mentioned, have trouble concentrating if I am stressed.

I like all different kinds of books...

Jaqueline Wilson is a childrens author but when my daughter got too old for them I still carried on buying them for myself. A light read in some ways but so thoughtful, deep and understanding.

'The Secret of Crickley Hall' by James Herbert. Dark and scary but good. The main victim in the book was so unfortunate and was in no way responsible for what was happeneing to him. Just like in real life....

'The Naked Ape' by Desmond Norris. Helps us to understand the origins of human nature and why it is all going so wrong!

'Freedomland' by Richard Price is my current read and half way through. So DON'T go and tell me the ending please ;-)
Was a film staring Morgan Freeman so many would know it. A lady reports her young son as being kidnapped but there is more to her tale than she is letting on. Bit of a mystery.

Happy Reading to everyone x

I love reading books and therefore whenever I have time I read something. I always enjoy reading historical novels. I am of the opinion that it is very interesting to read such novels because you can easily learn something about bygone times. My absolute favorite authors are Noah Gordon and Paulo Coelho and my favorite book is 'the Physician' written by Noah Gordon.

I am constantly reading - it is my great escape!
I used to read Stephen King and Dean Koontz, but they got too 'samesy'.
I read biographies (always good to know that you aren't the only to have had a terrible time) - Richard Hammond, Martin Luther King Jr, Dawn French, Paul o Grady, Sheila Hancock (as you can see I'm not choosy who I read about).

I enjoy chick lit when I just need something easy to read - Housewife Down was a good one (and I still don't know whether she killed him or it really was an accident).

My kids say I have my own personal library and that I really should stop buying books, but hey they have ipods and tv so why shouldn't I have a little something. ;)

I love Kelley Armstrong - it's a great escape to picture all those wonderful supernatural characters. Have you tried the new detective ones?

I find it great to pick up a good book - try reading one that you have already read if your concentration is lacking at the moment, once you are hooked again there'll be no stopping you.

Also love science fiction and horror and enjoy all those authors. Are you into sci-fi and horror movies as well?

Yes, I love a decent horror film, not too bothered about sci-fi. Usually find that the books ar better than the films.
