Just a question that I haven't found any mention of in previous posts.....

I have received the form to apply for Child Tax Credit. I haven't posted it, as I was wondering if the Tax Credit Office will notify the Ex Spouse? Ex has moved out of the home months ago, but still pays for most everything. I do not work, as main carer to baby. Feel like a financial prisoner with no monies at present. Does Ex have to know? He is very hard working and TOTALLY against anyone claiming any type of Goverment Funding, needed or not.

Please advice if they contact the EX?

If you are not making a joint claim then there is no reason why they should have to contact him.
Also, there are often different rules for victims of domestic violence, for example, when I applied for Council Tax Benefit, I had to produce bank statements which showed my children's father paying voluntary maintenance and they wanted a letter from him to confirm that it was child maintenance and not money for me. Once I told them about the DV, they told me not to worry about getting a letter from him. xx

Hi GW, Child tax credit is not a 'benefit', Anyone with a child is entitled to it. If you are claiming as a single person there is no reason for them to involve your ex.
If he is paying child maintenance that is for the child, not you so it is not classed as income.
