Does anyone know if on working tax and family tax credits I could get any reduction at all. Ive asked for 25% off due to being single but a friend told me I may get some more off. My rates are huge, that''s why I''m asking. I would really appreciate it if anyone knows.

Have a look here:

www.gov.uk/council-tax-benefit

I think each Council have a budget they can allocate.

However there are changes afoot and Council Tax Benefit will be stopped/reduced for some people from April.

try www.turn2us.org.uk which is usually a pretty accurate benefits calculator. It is worth just phoning your council and asking - it might not be much but it will help if you are eligible!

You may, you may not. I get both WTC and CTC and last year I got some off my council tax then I got a """"huge"""" pay rise (£55 a month) and on lettng the council know I lost the benefit. Note to self: stop being honest!

Phone your council and ask for a form. You have to provide all sorts of things - bank statements, payslips, (bit like a mini form E!) But if you don''t apply you will never know.
