My husband and I are separating and we are having a dispute with regard to the division of our home.

14 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and received 47k critical illness payout on my individual policy. I paid individual and joint debts, for renovations to our home and 25k off our mortgage.

Now that we are separating i believe that i should have the insurance money plus 50% of the equity in the house.

I stopped working 9 years ago because of my illness, this is why the insurance was paid in the first place, because of the nature of the illness. I have still contributed financially to the household redundancy x2 inheritance x2 benefits etc. I also have to house our daughter.

My husband is still able to work and I have not asked for any of his future earnings or pension, he earns a good wage for our area.
Do you believe this is fair, unfair or me being a mug?
House is worth 185-190k mortgage 42k.
Thank you

You need to post details of all incomes and assets, not just the house, for someone to comment

You may find his pension is worth more than the house.
